Full: D. THE FIGHTER THEY THOUGHT WAS TOO OLD
PART 1 — THE WOMAN THEY LAUGHED AT
The packed American boxing arena was roaring with energy.
Thousands of spectators filled the stands as brilliant overhead lights illuminated the square boxing ring.
The crowd erupted when an elderly silver-haired woman stepped through the ropes.
She wore a deep burgundy silk boxing robe and brown leather boxing gloves.
Her silver hair was pulled tightly away from her face.
She looked completely calm.
Across the ring stood her much younger opponent.
The young fighter bounced aggressively on the balls of her feet.
She shook out her shoulders.
Then leaned against the ropes and stared at the elderly woman.
A cocky grin spread across her face.
She pointed her gloved fist toward the older fighter.
"Get this woman a chair."
The crowd laughed.
The younger fighter shook her head.
"She's not surviving one round with me."
More laughter erupted from the stands.
The elderly woman didn't respond.
She simply watched her opponent.
Her expression remained completely composed.
Then she slowly reached for the belt of her silk robe.
She untied it.
The robe slid from her shoulders.
She stepped out of it.
Underneath, she wore a professional black boxing top, black boxing shorts, brown leather boxing gloves, and white hand wraps.
The crowd's laughter faded.
Her posture was completely different now.
Her shoulders squared.
Her chin lowered.
Her eyes became razor-sharp.
The younger fighter stopped smiling.
The referee stepped between them.
Both fighters walked toward the center of the ring.
The elderly woman extended her glove.
The younger fighter touched gloves with her.
The referee raised one hand.
"Fight clean. Protect yourselves at all times."
Both women stepped backward.
They raised their guards.
The crowd became silent.
The elderly fighter's eyes remained locked on her opponent.
The younger fighter bounced lightly on her feet.
The referee looked toward the timekeeper.

The bell was ready.
The fight was about to begin.
