A heavy silence settled over the parking lot.
The shouting stopped.
No one moved.
Every pair of eyes was locked on the wheelchair as the small red light beneath the seat flashed over and over again. The steady beeping cut through the air, replacing the chaos with an unsettling sense of anticipation.
The young man in the black hoodie remained crouched beside the chair, carefully examining the device hidden underneath. Just moments earlier, everyone had been arguing.
Now, everyone wanted the same answer.
The elderly man stared at the blinking light, his face draining of color. His breathing slowed as recognition washed over him.
"I know that sound."
The woman's expression changed instantly. The panic in her eyes was no longer fueled by anger—it was fueled by fear.
No one spoke.
The mysterious device continued flashing.
Every beep seemed louder than the last.
People nearby began stepping backward instinctively, while others froze, unsure of what they were looking at. Even passing drivers slowed their vehicles, sensing that something serious was unfolding.
The young man looked back and forth between the wheelchair and the elderly man, trying to understand how the device had gotten there.
