Chapter 3

Chapter 3: “You are not blind!”
“You are not blind!”
The words struck like a crack through the quiet park.
The billionaire jerked slightly on the bench, his hand tightening around the cane.
The wind moved through the trees, rustling leaves—but everything else stopped.
“…what did you say?”
His voice came out sharp.
Controlled.
But not steady.
The old woman stepped closer.
Slow.
Certain.
Her eyes locked onto him as if she could see straight through everything he believed.
“It’s your wife.”
The air shifted.
His breathing changed instantly.
“Careful.”
Low.
Warning.
But there was something underneath it now—
fear.
She didn’t react.
Didn’t hesitate.
“She puts something in your drink every day.”
Silence deepened.
Heavy.
Uncomfortable.
His grip tightened around the cane until his knuckles turned white.
A memory surfaced—
uninvited.
A glass in his hand.
His wife smiling.
Soft.
Perfect.
“…no…”
The word barely existed.
The old woman leaned in slightly, her voice quieter now—but sharper.
“You were never meant to see.”
Then—
she turned.
Walked away.
Like she had already said everything that mattered.
“Wait!”
He half-rose from the bench, reaching toward nothing.
Too late.
The park blurred—
and the world shifted.
Suddenly—
he was standing inside his own home.
Glass in hand.
Still.
Frozen.
The silence there felt different.
Controlled.
Clean.
Dangerous.
Footsteps approached.
Soft.
Measured.
His wife stepped into view.
Elegant.
Composed.
Watching him.
“You didn’t drink it yet?”
Her voice was gentle.
Too gentle.
He looked down at the glass.
Then back at her.
Something inside him breaking apart—piece by piece.
“…what did you put in this?”
The question came out quiet.
But it carried everything.
For a split second—
her smile slipped.
Just enough.
Just real enough.
And in that tiny crack—
the truth showed itself.
The moment stretched—
right before everything collapsed—
May you like
…and then—
