The waves continued crashing against the shore with incredible force.
Even experienced surfers watched the water carefully before making a move.
From the beach, one concerned woman could no longer hide her fear.
She cupped her hands around her mouth and shouted,
"Ma'am, please don't go out there!"
For a brief moment, it seemed as though the entire beach was waiting for the older surfer to change her mind.
She never did.
Without a word, she stepped into the surf.
She climbed onto her board and began paddling with strong, steady strokes, cutting through one wave after another.
The deeper she paddled, the quieter the crowd became.
Every stroke carried confidence.
