PART 2 — THE FATHER WHO REFUSED TO WALK AWAY

The fighter threw the stack of cash onto the mat.
The money scattered across the floor.
The crowd erupted with laughter.
Daniel sat down on an old metal chair near the edge of the room.
He slowly began removing his worn boots.
His hands were steady.
But his face revealed the weight he was carrying.
Several people around him realized that he wasn't a professional fighter.
He was simply a father who had walked into a dangerous situation because he didn't see another way forward.
One of Daniel's friends stepped closer.
He knew Daniel's situation.
He knew about Lily.
He also knew that Daniel had never been the kind of man to ask anyone for help.
The friend looked at him and tried to stop him.
"Man, just walk away. Your daughter's gonna watch you limp home!"
Daniel paused.
For a moment, he looked down at the blue bracelet again.
He remembered Lily putting it around his wrist that morning.
She had smiled and told him it was supposed to bring him luck.
Daniel had promised her he would come home.
He stood.
He didn't look at the money.
He didn't look at the crowd.
He simply walked toward the mat.
The fighter watched him approach with complete confidence.
To everyone in the room, Daniel looked like an ordinary working father who had made a desperate decision.
But nobody knew that Daniel had spent years training in martial arts before becoming a father.
He had walked away from that life long ago.
Not because he had forgotten how to fight.
Because Lily had become more important than fighting.
He had promised himself that he would never return to that world.
Until tonight.
Daniel stepped onto the mat.
The crowd slowly became quiet.
He looked at his daughter's bracelet one final time.
Then he tightened his fists.
The fighter raised his gloves.
The two men stood facing each other.
For the first time that night, the confident fighter noticed something different in Daniel's eyes.
There was no anger.
No hatred.
Just determination.
The referee raised his hand.

The crowd leaned forward.
The fight was about to begin.
