PART 2 — THE STRANGE STANCE THAT SILENCED THE GYM

The gym went completely silent.

Nobody laughed anymore.

Daniel stood across from Ryan with his hands raised.

His stance still looked unusual.

Almost clumsy.

Ryan smiled again.

“You sure you know what you're doing?”

Daniel didn't answer.

The referee stepped away.

Ryan moved forward first.

He expected the old man to retreat.

Instead...

Daniel shifted one foot.

Just one step.

Ryan stopped.

The movement had been incredibly small.

But it had completely changed the distance between them.

Ryan threw a quick punch.

Daniel moved his head slightly.

The punch missed.

The crowd gasped.

Ryan attacked again.

Daniel stepped aside.

Again.

And again.

He wasn't moving quickly.

He was simply never standing where Ryan expected him to be.

The laughter disappeared.

One of the coaches leaned forward.

“Wait…”

Ryan became frustrated.

He increased the pressure.

Daniel continued moving with quiet precision.

A small shift.

A short step.

A perfectly timed turn.

Nothing looked flashy.

But every movement seemed deliberate.

Ryan suddenly rushed forward.

Daniel caught his arm and redirected his momentum.

Ryan stumbled past him.

The gym erupted in disbelief.

“Did you see that?”

Ryan immediately turned around.

His expression had completely changed.

He was no longer fighting an old man for fun.

He was trying to understand him.

Daniel looked at him calmly.

“You're strong.”

Ryan stared at him.

“But you're relying too much on strength.”

Ryan clenched his jaw.

He charged again.

Daniel stepped inside the attack and stopped him with a controlled defensive movement.

No unnecessary force.

No showboating.

Just timing.

The head coach suddenly stood up.

“Daniel…”

The old man looked at him.

The coach stared at his face.

Then at his stance.

Then back at his face.

“Where did you learn that?”

Daniel remained quiet for several seconds.

Finally, he answered.

“A long time ago.”

The coach shook his head.

“No.”

He walked closer.

“That wasn't something you learn at a regular gym.”

Daniel looked away.

The coach noticed an old identification tag attached to Daniel's gym bag.

His expression changed.

He picked it up.

Then froze.

“Daniel Carter…”

Several fighters looked at one another.

The coach slowly read the faded information.

“Former U.S. Army Special Forces…”

The entire gym became silent.

Ryan lowered his gloves.

The coach continued reading.

“Close-quarters combat instructor…”

“Combat operations veteran…”

“And…”

He stopped.

His eyes widened.

“Twenty-eight years of service?”

Everyone stared at Daniel.

The old man simply nodded.

Ryan looked completely stunned.

“You were Special Forces?”

Daniel looked at him.

“I was.”

Ryan swallowed.

“Why didn't you tell us?”

Daniel gave a quiet smile.

“Because I didn't come here to tell stories.”

He looked toward the mat.

“I came here to see if I still remembered what I was taught.”

The gym fell silent again.

But nobody was laughing anymore.

And Daniel's real story...
