PART 3 — THE WOMAN THEY LAUGHED AT BECAME THE STAR OF THE NIGHT

The applause continued.
The judges could barely speak.
Finally, one judge stood and looked directly at the grandmother.
"Where did that voice come from?"
The grandmother smiled softly.
"I've been singing my whole life."
The judge shook his head in disbelief.
"Why did you wait so long to perform on a stage like this?"
The grandmother looked down at her hands.
For a moment, she said nothing.
Then she smiled.
"I was always told there would be another time."
The theater became quiet again.
She looked toward the audience.
"Then I realized that if I kept waiting, I might never get my chance."
The judges exchanged emotional looks.
The host walked toward her and gently embraced her.
The same audience that had laughed at her entrance was now cheering her name.
One judge pressed the Golden Buzzer.
Golden confetti exploded from the ceiling.
The grandmother covered her mouth in disbelief.
She looked up at the falling gold confetti with tears in her eyes.
The crowd roared even louder.
Only minutes earlier...
They had seen an old woman with a cane.
Now...
They were looking at a singer who had finally been given the chance to be heard.
