PART 2 — THE FUNERAL THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED

Two days later, Daniel stood inside a quiet funeral home.
Emily's casket rested at the center of the room, surrounded by white lilies.
Family members stood nearby, speaking in whispers.
Nobody knew what to say to Daniel.
He barely slept.
He barely ate.
He spent most of his time staring at the photograph of Emily placed beside the flowers.
The photograph showed her smiling with one hand resting gently on her pregnant belly.
Daniel couldn't accept that the woman in that photograph was no longer with him.
His mother, Margaret, stood silently behind him.
She had lost her daughter-in-law.
Daniel had lost his wife.
And everyone believed the baby was gone too.
As the room slowly emptied, Daniel finally stepped toward the casket.
His legs gave way.
He dropped to his knees.
He gently held Emily's face, overwhelmed by grief.
Then came the moment from which everything changed.
Daniel pressed his forehead against hers.
His shoulders shook.
And through his tears, he whispered—
"No... no, please... no..."
For several seconds, nothing happened.
Then Daniel's hand slowly moved toward Emily's stomach.
It was almost instinctive.
One final touch.
One final goodbye to the child they had dreamed about for months.
But suddenly...
Daniel froze.
His expression changed.
He felt something.
A tiny movement.
He pulled his hand back.
Then placed it there again.
His eyes widened.
He wasn't sure if it was real.
He held his breath.
And then he felt it again.
A faint movement beneath his palm.
Daniel stared at Emily's face.
His grief suddenly turned into disbelief.
Was it possible?
Could their baby still be alive?
He looked toward his mother.
Neither of them could speak.
Then Daniel stood up.
Panic replaced the sadness in his eyes.
He turned toward Margaret and shouted—
"Call a doctor! ... Call a doctor!"
He reached beneath Emily carefully and lifted her from the casket.
The room erupted into confusion.
Margaret grabbed her phone.
Daniel screamed again—
May you like
"Call a doctor!"
And just as he rushed toward the door...
