PART 3: THE PRICE OF PRIDE (Dramatic Ending)

The woman froze.
"Y-you..."
The man simply nodded.
"Please, have a seat."
She forced an awkward smile.
"It was all a misunderstanding."
"I didn't really mean—"
He raised a hand.
"Let's begin the interview."
For the next thirty minutes...
he asked only professional questions.
About her experience.
Her leadership.
Her decision-making under pressure.
Not once did he mention their relationship.
At the end...
he closed her résumé.
"You have impressive qualifications."
"But I have one final question."
She looked up hopefully.
"If one of your employees was going through a difficult chapter in life..."
"...but had exceptional talent..."
"Would you support them..."
"...or would you walk away because you assumed they had no future?"
The question struck her like lightning.
Every cruel word she had spoken on the sidewalk came rushing back.
She lowered her head.
Unable to answer.
He stood and walked toward the window, looking down at the busy streets below.
"You know..."
"Today was my first official day as CEO."
"I was planning to tell you tonight."
"But you made your decision before I had the chance."
The room was silent.
He turned to face her.
His expression remained calm.
"I'm not rejecting you because of our past."
"I'm rejecting you because this company needs leaders who judge people by their character..."
"...not by their temporary circumstances."
He signed the evaluation form.
NOT SELECTED.
She burst into tears.
For the first time...
she realized...
that some opportunities...
once lost...
never come back.
As the office door quietly closed behind her...
the man continued looking out over the city.
He didn't feel victorious.
May you like
He simply felt that one chapter of his life...
had finally come to an end.
