PART 2: The Horse That Remembered

CHAPTER1
The grand royal equestrian gala glittered beneath enormous crystal chandeliers. Wealthy guests filled the marble ballroom, sipping champagne and admiring the magnificent black stallion standing beside billionaire horse breeder Victor Hale.
The horse was legendary.
Wild. Untamed. Dangerous.
Victor raised his hand, silencing the crowd.
"Whoever rides this horse wins one million dollars."
The room buzzed with excitement.
Several professional riders had already failed.
One had been thrown across the arena.
Another had left with a broken arm.
Nobody stepped forward.
Then a small voice broke the silence.
"I'll do it."
Heads turned.
A little girl stood near the entrance.
She couldn't have been older than seven.
Her dress was simple. Her shoes were worn.
The crowd burst into laughter.
A woman nearly spilled her champagne.
Victor frowned.
"This isn't a game, child."
The girl didn't answer.
Instead, she walked toward the massive stallion.
Security guards moved forward, but Victor raised a hand.
"Let her learn."
The horse suddenly reared onto its hind legs.
Guests screamed.
But the girl kept walking.
Closer.
Closer.
Then she gently touched the horse's forehead.
Instantly, everything changed.
The stallion froze.
The rage vanished from its eyes.
The giant animal lowered its head.
Then, in front of hundreds of stunned guests, it slowly bent both front legs and bowed.
The ballroom fell silent.
Victor's face drained of color.
"No..." he whispered.
The girl smiled.
"You remember me."
The horse softly nudged her shoulder.
Tears suddenly filled the animal's eyes.
The guests stared in disbelief.
One reporter gasped.
"How is this possible?"
The girl turned toward Victor.
Her expression changed.
It was no longer the smile of a child.
It was the look of someone who knew a secret.
A terrible secret.
"You never told them what happened that night."
Victor staggered backward.
"What did you say?"
The girl's eyes locked onto his.
"I know who killed my father."
The ballroom exploded with shock.
Victor looked as if he had seen a ghost.

And then the girl spoke the words that froze his blood.
"Because the horse saw everything."
