The massive American talent-show theater was packed with thousands of spectators. Bright spotlights swept across the stage as the cameras focused on an elderly woman standing alone in the center.
Her silver hair was neatly pinned back, and her modest dress hung loosely on her frail frame. She held the microphone with both hands, her fingers trembling as tears gathered in her eyes.
The male judge leaned forward and asked gently, "Ma'am, what will you be performing tonight?"
The elderly woman lowered her head, struggling to control her emotions. For several seconds, she couldn't speak.
