PART 2 — THE CALL THAT STOPPED THE MEETING

Hundreds of feet above the city, a completely different scene was unfolding.

Inside a glass-walled executive conference room, a group of senior business leaders were gathered around a long table.

At the head sat the elderly woman's son.

He was leading an important evening meeting when his phone suddenly vibrated.

He glanced at the screen.

His mother's name appeared.

The room immediately became quiet.

His mother rarely called during business meetings.

He answered.

Then he heard the trembling voice on the other end.

His expression changed instantly.

The confidence of the executive disappeared.

His eyes hardened.

His jaw tightened.

He slowly pushed his chair backward and stood.

One of his colleagues looked at him.

"What happened?"

The son stared toward the city lights outside the window.

Then he spoke into the phone.

"What? Stay there, I'm coming."

He ended the call.

Nobody asked another question.

The son grabbed his jacket.

Then something unexpected happened.

Several executives around the table stood too.

They had worked with him for years.

They knew one thing about him.

He could tolerate almost anything directed at himself.

But he would never ignore someone hurting his mother.

Within seconds, the meeting was abandoned.

Cars were already being called downstairs.

Meanwhile, back at the restaurant, the large man continued standing with his friends as though nothing had happened.

He had no idea who the elderly woman was.

He didn't know who had just been called.

And he certainly didn't know that the person walking through those restaurant doors would not be looking for a fight.

He would be looking for answers.

Minutes later, the restaurant doors opened.

The son walked inside.

Behind him came several members of his executive team.

The room fell silent.

He immediately saw his mother sitting near the floor, still shaken from what had happened.

His expression changed.

He walked directly toward her.

"Are you okay, Dad?"

The old woman slowly nodded.

Then the son helped her stand.

Only after making sure his mother was safe did he turn toward the man who had pushed her.

The entire restaurant watched.

The large man suddenly looked much less confident.

But the son didn't raise his voice.

He simply asked:

"Why did you do that?"

The man hesitated.

He had expected anger.

Instead, he was facing something much harder to deal with.

Accountability.
