FULL: VH-THE OLD MAN THEY MOCKED UNTIL HIS SON ARRIVED
PART 1 — THE HUMILIATION
The afternoon rush filled a busy downtown plaza in Chicago, Illinois. Office workers hurried past food carts, tourists snapped pictures of the city skyline, and street musicians played beneath the towering glass buildings.
Near the edge of the plaza, an elderly man sat on a wooden bench, carefully holding an antique camera that had belonged to his late wife. Its worn leather covering and brass details carried decades of memories. To him, it was more than a camera. It was the last gift she had given him before she passed away.
A group of young men walked by, laughing loudly and shoving one another.
One of them swung his arm carelessly and knocked the camera from the old man's hands.
CRASH!

The antique camera struck the pavement and shattered. Pieces of glass scattered across the stone tiles.
The old man froze.
Slowly, he bent down and picked up a broken piece, his fingers trembling as he stared at the damage.
Instead of apologizing, the young man burst out laughing. His friends joined in, pointing at the old man as if his heartbreak were the funniest thing they had seen all day.
"Hahaha!"
The old man looked up at them. His eyes were wet, but he said nothing.
"What's wrong, old timer?" one of them sneered. "It's just an old camera!"
The young man who had knocked it down leaned closer, wearing a smug grin.
"Maybe you should stay home if you can't handle being outside."
People nearby noticed what was happening. Some shook their heads, but nobody stepped forward.
The old man carefully placed the broken camera pieces on the bench. Then he reached into his coat and pulled out his phone.
His expression changed.
The sadness in his eyes gave way to a cold, controlled determination.
He dialed a number.
"Son, come to me right now!"
He ended the call without another word.
The young men exchanged amused glances.
The main troublemaker stepped closer, pointed at the old man, and laughed mockingly.
"Who did you just call, old man?"
The old man met his gaze but remained silent.

For the first time, there was something in that silence the young man couldn't explain.
And somewhere across the city, someone was already on his way.
