PART 2 — THE CHAMPION SAW HER... AND EVERYTHING CHANGED

The arena exploded as Logan Hayes' entrance music began.
Fireworks illuminated the walkway.
The undefeated champion stepped into view with the championship belt resting proudly over his shoulder.
The crowd chanted his name.
Logan smiled and acknowledged the fans as he made his way toward the octagon.
Then he looked through the cage.
His eyes landed on the elderly woman standing in the opposite corner.
His smile disappeared.
He stopped walking.
For several seconds, he didn't move.
The belt on his shoulder nearly slipped as his hand suddenly tightened around it.
The broadcast camera caught the change in his expression.
His face had gone pale.
The crowd noticed.
The commentators stopped talking.
Logan stared at the woman as though he had just seen someone from a distant chapter of his life.
He whispered,
"No way..."
"It can't be her..."
His coach grabbed his arm.
"What's wrong?"
Logan shook his head.
"I know her."
Then he looked toward the cage.
"We have to cancel the match."
His coach stared at him.
"She's just an eighty-year-old woman."
Logan's expression became even more serious.
"You wouldn't understand..."
"If she really is that person..."
"...then I absolutely won't step into that cage."
The crowd began booing.
They thought the champion was trying to avoid the fight.

But Logan wasn't looking at the audience.
He couldn't take his eyes off the elderly woman.
