Full: D. THEY LAUGHED WHEN MARGARET SAT BEHIND THE DRUMS

PART 1 — THE DRUMMER THEY UNDERESTIMATED

The grand American theater was electric with anticipation.

Thousands of spectators filled the auditorium as brilliant stage lights swept across the crowd before settling on center stage.

A massive professional drum kit waited beneath the spotlight.

Then an unexpected contestant walked onto the stage.

An elderly silver-haired woman named Margaret strode confidently toward the drums.

She wore a sharp, elegant black pantsuit covered with subtle silver embellishments and matching heels.

A small black handbag hung from one hand.

Her posture was calm.

Her expression was completely composed.

The host, dressed in a striking fitted red gown, walked toward her with a microphone.

She smiled warmly.

"Margaret, you're here to play the drums?"

Margaret simply gave a quiet, confident nod.

At the judges' table, a female judge leaned toward her microphone.

She looked Margaret up and down.

Then let out a sarcastic laugh.

"At her age, those drums are gonna play her!"

The judges' table erupted in chuckles.

Scattered laughter spread through the audience.

Margaret didn't react.

She simply turned toward the drum kit.

She walked over to the drum stool.

Carefully, she placed her small handbag on the floor beside the stool.

Then she sat down.

The audience slowly became quieter.

Margaret reached toward the drumsticks.

She picked up exactly two wooden drumsticks.

She rolled them between her fingers with effortless control.

The casual movement immediately caught the attention of the nearest spectators.

Her expression changed.

The smile disappeared.

Her eyes became intensely focused.

She adjusted her posture behind the kit.

Both hands settled naturally around the sticks.

She took one slow, deep breath.

The theater became completely silent.

Margaret raised both sticks above the drums.

The female judge leaned forward, waiting to see what would happen.

Margaret's eyes locked onto the drum kit.

She was ready to play.
