PART 3 — THE DRUM SOLO THAT SILENCED THE JUDGE

PART 3 — THE DRUM SOLO THAT SILENCED THE JUDGE

Margaret suddenly attacked the kit.

BOOM!

The bass drum thundered through the theater.

CRACK! CRACK!

Her sticks struck the snare in rapid succession.

Then—

CRASH!

The cymbal exploded above her.

The audience roared.

Margaret continued the solo.

Her hands moved independently.

One maintained the rhythm.

The other raced across the toms.

Her feet worked the pedals with perfect timing.

The entire drum kit became an extension of her body.

The camera cuts rapidly between her hands, feet, cymbals, and focused expression.

The audience was on its feet now.

The host stood frozen beside the stage.

The judges stared in disbelief.

Margaret launched into a rapid series of perfectly controlled strikes.

CRACK-CRACK-CRACK-CRACK!

Then everything stopped.

Silence.

Margaret held both sticks completely still above the snare.

She looked toward the judges.

The female judge who had mocked her earlier slowly stood.

The audience began cheering before the judge could even speak.

The judge picked up her microphone.

She looked at Margaret.

Then shook her head with a stunned smile.

"Okay, Margaret... I take it back."

The theater erupted.

Margaret smiled.

She gently lowered the drumsticks.

The host walked toward her, laughing in disbelief.

The audience continued applauding.

Margaret reached down and picked up her small handbag from beside the stool.

She stood.

She calmly stepped away from the drum kit.

The same woman who had walked onto the stage carrying a handbag was now leaving to a standing ovation.

The camera slowly pulls back.

Margaret stands beneath the spotlight as thousands of spectators continue cheering.

The drums remain behind her.

The judge's earlier laughter has completely disappeared.

Margaret didn't need to explain her age.

She simply let the music answer for her.

They thought the drums would play her.

Instead, Margaret made the entire theater listen.

THE END.
